Built for the signal,
not the noise

App development for small scale solutions.

dBdB is a small app development company. We build small, focused apps for niche communities that big tech overlooks. Our aviation apps are built specifically for the mechanics, pilots and firefighters who keep remarkable aircraft flying. Our outdoor apps bring people together around shared experiences. All of our apps have a fundraising element for causes that matter. Every app we build is private, simple, and trustworthy — no accounts, no data collection, no noise. Just signal. And when you use a dBdB app, you're part of something bigger. Proceeds from our aviation apps go directly to organizations supporting wildland firefighters and their families. Proceeds from our recreation apps go directly to organizations supporting other good causes. Built for the signal, not the noise.

Fire Size Estimator

About the Fire Size EstimatorFire Size Estimator is a field tool for quickly estimating wildfire acreage by marking the perimeter of a fire directly on a map — whether you're flying overhead or a firefighter on the ground. How It WorksMark the edge of a fire as you observe it, either by tapping to drop a pin at each point, or by turning on auto-tracking and letting the app record your path as you walk the perimeter. The app connects the marked points into a perimeter and calculates an acreage estimate from the resulting shape. After creating a perimeter the draw feature allows you to draw the actual fires shape on the map. Spot fires can also be drawn as separate shapes.Fire Size Estimator is built as a decision-support tool — a fast way to get a working acreage number in the field — not a replacement for official mapping, GIS analysis, or incident command reporting systems.Who It's ForWildland firefighters, aviation crews, land managers, and anyone who needs a quick, on-the-ground or in-the-air estimate of a fire's size without waiting on formal mapping resources.Built with a PurposeFire Size Estimator is developed by dBdB, an independent app studio built around a simple idea: tools should be built for the signal, not the noise. After Apple's 15% platform fee, the remaining 85% of this app's proceeds are donated to a nonprofit supporting firefighting families. — a nod to the aviation and wildfire community the app is built for.A Note on AccuracyEstimates produced by the app depend on the accuracy of GPS positioning and the points marked by the user. Always cross-check estimates against official sources before using them for operational or reporting decisions.---
Fire Size Estimator is developed and maintained by dBdB. See our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for more information.
